Victoria records two new local COVID cases
Victoria has recorded two new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight. Acting Premier James Merlino also said there were six new infections recorded in hotel quarantine. "Both of the new community cases are known primary close contacts of existing outbreaks, so that is a good thing," he said. "One new case is another employee of the Port Melbourne finance company in their 50s who has been isolating for the entirety of their infectious period. "The other new case is a teacher from the primary school linked to the West Melbourne outbreak." The acting premier also said the state was seeing "very strong numbers" at its testing and vaccination sites. "19,940 people came forward to be vaccinated, which is a record for a weekend day, really pleasing to see," he said.
