India’s economy has plunged 7.3 per cent in the past financial year due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the country’s total infections passing 28 million. Although it grew 1.6 per cent at the start of the year the second wave of infections has stifled its recovery. The recession is considered to be the worst since India’s independence.
