Vaccine rollout blame game is 'quite disappointing': AMA Vice President
AMA Vice President Dr Chris Moy says the blame game unfolding between the federal and state governments over the vaccine rollout is “quite disappointing”. “I think it’s been quite disappointing, the blame game,” he said. “I think ultimately there has been a fundamental problem of, first up, supply. “I don’t think people realise that we’ve got very little of the supply that we were supposed to get from overseas and that’s been the limiting factor". Dr Moy said criticism of the GP rollout has not been helpful because only around 1,500 of the 4,500 practices which were meant to come online have done so due to a lack of supply. “We need to hold any judgment of that until much later, because it’s been like only a third of the team has been out on the field and we haven’t even had the ball yet … in football terms.” “So, give that aspect of the rollout a chance because that has escalated quite quickly and I feel quite confident that general practitioners are ready and willing to get this done”.
