Palaszczuk urges state and federal leaders to lift Brisbane hotspot declaration
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has urged the Commonwealth and state governments to lift the Brisbane hotspot declaration. Queensland has recorded one new locally-acquired case of COVID-19 prompting the state government to lift the three-day lockdown on Greater Brisbane which was set to end at 5pm AEST tonight. The lockdown is set to come down at 12pm after the state met the benchmark set by the premier and chief health officer for any community-acquired case to be linked, and for high testing numbers. More than 34,000 tests were conducted overnight, which was a key factor in the lockdown being lifted, however some restrictions will remain across the state until April 15. Premier Palaszczuk said as a result of the case numbers and the lockdown ending, the state will lift the Greater Brisbane hotspot. “I’m asking all other leaders across the country to consider doing the same as well,” she said.
