PM details national vaccine rollout strategy
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has detailed the nation’s coronavirus vaccine rollout scheme, announcing the federal government has committed an additional $1.9 billion to the strategy. Speaking to the National Press Club on Monday, Mr Morrison confirmed the nation has secured 140 million doses of the vaccine as part of “one of the largest logistical exercises ever seen in Australia”. “We are one of only a handful of countries to have gone through such a comprehensive and thorough level of oversight to ensure the vaccines are safe,” he said. “We have wisely planned for the unexpected”. Mr Morrison said the federal government’s aim was for every Australian to have the opportunity to be vaccinated – at no personal cost – by October this year.
