Former Labor Senator Stephen Conroy says Annastacia Palaszczuk got the COVID-19 response “dead right” and the Sydney media bubble must understand they don’t run the country. On Thursday the Queensland premier called for further federal assistance for tourism operators for when JobKeeper ends in March – despite Ms Palaszczuk closing out New South Wales days before Christmas due to the outbreak on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. “They had a bit of a referendum in Queensland about whether they supported the Palaszczuk government’s approach to the pandemic and the big news for anyone who didn’t notice in the Sydney media is she won, and she won convincingly,” Mr Conroy told Sky News. “The Sydney media bubble has got to understand that they don’t run the entire country and Annastacia Palaszczuk got it dead right there.”
