NZ-Australia travel bubble to recommence
Australia’s trans-Tasman bubble with New Zealand will reccomence this afternoon after health authorities declare they’re confident the outbreak is contained. The Morrison government suspended the travel bubble on Monday amid fears of community transmission in New Zealand of a South African strain of COVID-19. Several people tested positive for the virus after leaving hotel quarantine in Auckland prompting a suspension of travel between the two countries. Australian Medical Association Vice President Dr Chris Moy told Sky News the lifting of the temporary pause of the travel bubble was “really good news”. “There’s greater reassurance now that that South African strain that got into New Zealand is under control,” he said.
