Berejiklian says Palaszczuk 'the victim of her own policy'
New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has slammed her Queensland counterpart’s plea to the federal government to extend the JobKeeper program for struggling tourism operators– saying Annastacia Palaszczuk is a “victim” of her own policy. Ms Palaszczuk yesterday raised concerns about the plight of Queensland tourism operators following extended border closures, as the Sunshine State moves to reopen to Greater Sydney from February 1. “The whole point that NSW has been so strong in keeping borders open within Australia is to prevent exactly what the Queensland premier is now complaining about,” Ms Berejiklian told the media on Friday. “She is now the victim of a policy that she put in place herself. “When you unnecessarily close state borders you lose jobs, create hardship, you impact people’s mental health and wellbeing. “There is no reason why certain premiers move too quickly in shutting out NSW. There is nowhere in the state that’s a hotspot, and even if there was why should people from other parts of the state be prevented from moving freely."
