Albanese 'bound to be' Chris Bowen's next political victim
Labor MP Chris Bowen’s political record suggests he is either one of the “biggest liabilities” a Labor leader can have or an “undercover agent secretly working for the Libs,” according to Sky News host Rowan Dean. “Consider 2008 when Kevin Rudd was riding high in the polls, the great new hope of Labor. Everything was going swimmingly until Assistant Treasurer Chris Bowen launched Grocerywatch". “It was, to quote Phil Coorey, a disaster and became a laughing stock, the first chink in the mighty Kevin's impregnable armour. Once they start laughing at you, it's all over. Rudd was gone within two years." Moving on to Julia Gillard’s time in office, Mr Dean said the great disaster which “sealed her fate” was the boats which just “kept on coming” under Immigration Minister Bowen. “Bowen launched The Malaysian Solution, a bizarre idea where for every 800 asylum seekers we sent to Malaysia, the Malaysians would send us 4,000 unwanted refugees. It was a disaster and within 2 years Gillard was gone”. Mr Dean said Chris Bowen's "finest achievement" was in 2019 when Bill Shorten's "stocks just kept on rising higher and higher" and even the bookies had him as the presumed next Prime Minister of Australia. “Just in the nick of time, superspy Chris Bowen worked his evil genius again, with the single worst Labor policy in decades, the franking credits debacle designed to rip off self-funded retirees and older Australians". “To really seal Shorten's fate, Bowen came up with the greatest political slogan of the modern era: if you don't like our policies, don't vote for us. "Within days Bill Shorten was cactus. The evil genius had struck again." "Rudd, gone, Gillard, gone, Rudd, gone again, Shorten, gone and Albo's bound to be next! That's one hell of a record, Chris. Keep up the great work mate!"
