NSW residents encouraged to limit mobility amid rising case numbers
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant told Sydney residents the “safest thing” they could do ahead of the new year was to limit their interactions with those from other households by reducing visitor intake and minimising visits. Her comments come after the state recorded 18 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced further restrictions will be imposed on the state with all of Greater Sydney limited to five visitors per household on New Years Eve. “What is most important at the moment is that we break all current chains of transmission. And that is the basis for the limiting the household visitor numbers,” Ms Chant said. “Households are the highest risk of transmission events and so the safest thing you can do is limit your activities to your own household and minimise your interactions with other households at this time.”
