NSW opposition leader says crowds should not attend SCG Test match
New South Wales Opposition leader Jodi McKay urged people not to attend the Test match at the SCG on January 7. The comments come as NSW Health confirmed the state recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. Ms McKay warned the state could face a harsh lockdown if the novel pathogen spreads throughout the community. “No matter what the government says, and what COVID-safe plan is in place people will be doing activities or actions that can hasten transmission,” she said. “What I’m saying is avoid the risk, let’s not have any regrets. “24,000 people do not have to go to the cricket, they can sit at home in their lounge rooms and they can watch in the comfort of their home. “While we have an escalating number of case sand while we have clusters that haven’t been identified, a source not identified, I think it’s really important we’re doing everything we can to reduce the risk".
