Berejiklian government ‘acting as though no vaccine is available’
Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed the hotel quarantine program will continue to function as “though there is no vaccine available” until the pandemic is over. The premier warned there were still many unknown factors such as the level of responsiveness of vaccines to various strains of the coronavirus. “There are still a lot of questions around the vaccine,” she said. “My responsibility as the leader of New South Wales is to provide support to our citizens to live in a COVID-safe way until the pandemic is over one way or another”. Ms Berejiklian said until the “vast majority” of the population was vaccinated with an effective treatment she would be ensuring overseas travelers were required to quarantine for the standard 14 days.
