Doctored tweet the latest 'flashpoint' in a 'rocked' relationship
Sky News host Peter Gleeson says Beijing's broadcast of a provocative tweet on Monday is now the latest "flashpoint" in the relationship which has been "rocked by a growing diplomatic divide" between the nations. Mr Gleeson said there has been universal condemnation and outrage over the tweet within Australian politics. The doctored image – which has not been censored by Twitter despite being faked –was published by China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian. On Monday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison demanded China apologise for posting a doctored propaganda image of an Australian soldier holding a knife to the throat of a child. Mr Gleeson said he would think Australia would put its humanitarian record up against "any authoritarian regime in the world". "China have got an appalling record in this area," he said.
