China criticises Australia for tweet backlash
The war of words between China and Australia is escalating with the latest battle regarding the horrific ADF propaganda image. China has labelled the falsified photo a caricature. This claim is supported by a leading Chinese media outlet which described the image as a "popular cartoon," and dismissed the Prime Minister's push for an apology. A representative of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked if strong reactions to the tweet "mean they think the cold blood murder of Afghan innocent civilians is justified while other people's condemnation of such crimes are not justified?" The representative referred to the findings of the Brereton Inquiry Report on alleged war crimes in Afghanistan by Australian soldiers as fact.
