US Election: The Vice Presidents
With both US Presidential candidates in their 70s, many have speculated that the two Vice Presidential picks take on more importance than ever in next week's election. Republican candidate Mike Pence is no stranger to the media having hosted a radio and public affairs TV show. Pence is an evangelical-conservative which saw him become the governor of Indiana. US President Trump nominated him to be his running mate in the 2016 election which would see him take the second-most powerful role in the country. However, Mr Pence's time in the West Wing could be up with California-born Kamala Harris. Ms Harris served as the District Attorney in Oakland, followed by six years as California's Attorney-General and then becoming the first South Asian-American woman to be sworn in as Senator of California. Harris nominated herself as Democratic Presidential candidate before dropping out of the race in December. But, Ms Harris found herself at the side of candidate Joe Biden after he faced pressure to pick a female African-American running mate.
