President Trump is going to 'tease' Joe Biden
US President Donald Trump is going to "tease" Joe Biden on a number of vulnerable issues in the first presidential debate according to ANU Professor John Blaxland. The first US presidential debate is set to commence on Tuesday (local time) with a number of important topics to be debated by the President and Mr Biden. Professor Blaxland said given there is such a difference in the polls between the Democratic presidential nominee and President Trump, it should be "pretty much a lay down Misère in favour of Joe Biden" in the debate. However, he said Mr Biden is "really vulnerable" for a number of reasons. "His age is a big issue, his memory is a big issue," Mr Blaxland said. "And Trump is going to play on that. "He's going to tease him. "Trump's demagoguery is really quite extraordinary, its got a toxic sweetness to it that appeals to many parts of the American electorate that Joe Biden just doesn't touch on, he just doesn't reach. "And conversely Joe Biden is in a position where he can point to four years of half-baked promises."
