Mining giant BHP is set to announce a skills and training package worth almost $800 million. The plan will include 2,500 more apprenticeships, and 1,000 new skills development opportunities. An additional $450 million will be spent on contracts with Australian companies to source more local products and services and invest in technology pilots and emerging businesses.
