Biden loses focus on COVID-19 response
Joe Biden has shown a lapse in concentration during the first Presidential debate as Fox News' Chris Wallace was forced to redirect the Democratic nominee to answer the posed question. After concluding questioning on the presidential candidates’ different approaches to reopening the economy – during which Mr Trump claimed Mr Biden was committed to shutting down the country – the pair were asked about the effectiveness of masks. Mr Biden began his response, saying “the way to open businesses, so giving them the wherewithal to open up...” He was promptly reminded of the question, to which Mr Biden responded, “oh, masks make a big difference.” He referred to a comment made by the head of the CDC who said 100,000 lives could be saved if everyone wore masks between now and January. Mr Trump responded saying the CDC "also said the opposite". The president said he wore a mask only when needed, saying Mr Biden wore one at any given opportunity. “I don't wear a mask like him,” Mr Trump said. "[Biden] could be speaking 200 feet away and shows up with the biggest mask I've ever seen."
