Andrews flags air travel cannot resume until inquiry report is released
Premier Daniel Andrews has agreed hotel quarantine has to restart in Victoria “at some point” but chose to avoid questions regarding a starting date. With Victoria’s failed hotel quarantine program currently under inquiry, the Premier said he was confident his government could “respond to the report of the board very, very quickly” once it was released. He said his “consistent position” on the issue was that extensive air travel would not be allowed until the report by the inquiry had been released. Speaking of air travel, the Premier said “there's quite a lot of work going on so that we can be ready on that issue, to set something up that is as safe as possible”. “We want to leave room to be able to add to that framework in the event that the board puts to us certain things we should do.”
