Andrews claims daily case average is 'proof beyond question' his strategy is working
Premier Daniel Andrews says the 14-day rolling coronavirus average is “proof beyond question” that his COVID-19 strategy is working. Regional Victoria recorded an average of just 0.6 cases per day in the 14 days ending on September 28, while Metropolitan Melbourne recorded 18.2 cases per day in the same period. “That is absolutely the work of every single Victorian who is following the rules and playing their part,” he said. “That should lead to a sense of confidence and optimism that we took a substantial step on Sunday and we are well placed to take an even more substantial step towards that COVID normal on or about 18 or 19 October.” Mr Andrews also pleaded with Victorians to present themselves for testing as soon as any symptoms became apparent. “Don't wait until tomorrow. Don't wait until this afternoon,” he urged. “It's only then that we get the most complete picture so that we can take those steps with the certainty that needs to sit behind them. “
