Violent US protests ‘make a strong case’ for Trump’s re-election
The arson, looting and violence linked to protests in the United States make a strong case for President Trump and his law and order platform, according to RMIT University’s Joe Siracusa. “It’s very hard to look like you are going to protect anybody if you’re not speaking loud and clear on behalf of the fraternal police force in New York and Chicago,” he said. Speaking about the Republican National Convention, Mr Siracusa said the “the President staked out his position very clearly: he’s going to lower taxes and he’s going to make the economy roll again”. The President also made clear to voters his pro-life, pro-law and order and pro-Christian stance ahead of the election. “He’s sent all the signals to all the right people and now we’re starting to get some very conflicting polls come in”. While Democrat nominee Joe Biden was still ahead in most of the polls, the incumbent President started to close the gap, Mr Siracusa said. “It was a pretty good week for the Republicans." Image: AP
