Over 500 overdose fatalities recorded in NSW for fifth consecutive year
More than 500 New South Wales residents have died due to drug overdoses for the fifth consecutive year. For a decade, rural and regional areas in the state experienced higher rates of unintentional overdoses than in Greater Sydney. While illicit drugs were a major contributor to overdose deaths in other states, pharmaceutical opioids and benzodiazepines were recorded as major contributors in NSW. Image: Getty
