Vic records nine deaths, 295 new coronavirus cases
Victoria has recorded 295 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths in the past 24 hours. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said seven of the nine deaths were from private sector aged care. The Premier confirmed the state’s death toll as a result of the virus now stood at 92. There are 307 Victorians being treated for COVID-19 in hospital, 41 of whom are in intensive care. Mr Andrews said there were 804 active cases of the virus in aged care and 502 in the health workforce. There are 4839 total active cases of the virus across the state, 4575 of which are in Metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire and 195 in regional Victoria. The Premier said ADF personnel visited more than 500 people who were diagnosed with the virus – after being unable to reach them via phone - and found 29 who were not at home. He said those 29 Victorians had been referred to the police for investigation. Image: News Corp Australia
