Barty pulls out of US Open over COVID-19 fears
Australia’s top tennis player Ash Barty has withdrawn from the US Open over fears of the coronavirus. The New York Grand Slam is due to commence August 31, under a cloud of COVID-19 restrictions. The women’s world number one said she was not comfortable travelling during the pandemic as the reason for her decision. Ms Barty is yet to decide if she will compete in the French Open and other tournaments in Europe in the coming weeks.
