The 'political lynching' has begun: Moselmane
Embattled NSW Labor MP Shaoquett Moselmane has denied he is responsible for any wrong doing after becoming embroiled in an international espionage investigation. Mr Moselmane’s home was raided by the Australian Federal Police last week as part of an investigation into whether Chinese agents had infiltrated his office. The Labor MP adamantly denied any wrong doing at an emotional press conference this morning and defended his views on China as being “views that any Australian is entitled to”. “I am not a suspect in this investigation,” he said. “The investigation is linked to other people allegedly advancing the goals of a foreign government, namely the People's Republic of China. I am not sure what those goals are.” Mr Moselmane said he was coorporating with the investigation but maintained “the political Lynching has already commenced”. “I have done nothing wrong,” he said. “I have never jeopardised the welfare of our country and our people. In a democracy you are taught to express your views and what views are expressed on China and its leadership handling of the coronavirus was consistent with those of President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence as well as World Health Organization.” The NSW Upper House MP also spoke of racial attacks against the Australian Chinese community. “Australian Chinese community has been under sustained political racial and physical abuse,” he said. “They do not deserve the slander that they have received, and they certainly did not result deserve the abuse and violent physical attacks they have so far sustained. "Chinese Australians are a humble law-abiding group of citizens who go about their lives in peace, looking after their families and minding their own business. I am proud of them; I am also proud of my association with them.”
