Pressure mounts to lock down declared hotspots across Victoria
Pressure is mounting on the Andrews government to lock down declared hotspots across Victoria in order to contain the further spread of COVID-19. Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said there was increasing concern in federal ranks about the handling of the situation in Victoria. “The view is that the situation is getting out of control in Victoria with this outbreak and that some serious action should be considered.” Mr Clennell said he understood Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressed the issue with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and offered whatever resources were needed to take serious action. Mr Clennell said stay-at-home orders would see people forced home from work and would also see businesses shut down in affected suburbs. “I really think that we’re headed this way, there’s no way around it,” he said. “It’s preferable to reintroducing restrictions across the whole of Victoria isn’t it.” Image: News Corp Australia
