We want to see the economy opened 'as far as possible, as soon as possible'
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says he would like to see the economy opened up "as far as possible, as soon as possible" as the government encourages states to continue to fast-track the easing of restrictions. "The priority should be to get the economy going again to its fullest potential so we can ensure as many jobs return as possible and we can start growing jobs again," Mr Cormann said. "If you look at the way things have changed for the better since the end of March, we're in a very different economic and public health context." Mr Cormann said the government would "make judgements at the right time" as to whether JobKeeper would be extended beyond the September end date. Image: News Corp Australia
