Vulnerability of casual workers 'writ large' by coronavirus crisis
Cornerstone Group’s James Cullen says the vulnerability of casual workers has been “writ large” by the coronavirus pandemic. “We’ve seen through the COVID-19 crisis that casual workers in some ways have been the first against the wall,” he told Sky News. Mr Cullen said the federal government “gets a tick” for its commitment towards industrial relation reform and “getting employer and employee groups at the same table”. He said the government had a monstrous task in front of it if it was to improve productivity, “which let’s be frank the economy really needs”, while also sharing those gains “evenly with employers and employees”.
