SA Premier insists there is 'no net gain' in reopening border
South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says there would be no “net gain” in opening his state back up to tourists as the row over state border closures ramps up. South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory continue to stand firm on their decision to keep state borders closed until the coronavirus threat lifts. When asked about the border closure, SA Premier Steven Marshall was emphatic that they would remain closed and insisted there would be no “net gain” in reopening them in winter. Meanwhile, new figures released today revealed Queensland's economy was expected to take a $2 billion hit if did not reopen borders soon. One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson issued Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk a 4pm deadline to open her state's borders before she lodged a complaint with the High Court. Constitutional law expert George Williams said the case could prove a winner for Senator Hanson in the High Court if Queensland was unable to show sufficient medical reasoning for the border closure.
