PM's economic plan 'more micromanaging' from Canberra
The Australian's Adam Creighton says it seems the Prime Minister wants to do "more micromanaging from Canberra" as the government looks at vocational education as a key component of its plan to stimulate economic growth post-COVID-19. "The federal government is mainly responsible for social security and tax so those are the levers they have more influence over. Vocational education is largely a state issue," Mr Creighton said. "You want states to be responsible for the money they spend rather than the federal government interfering and trying to micromanage how to spend it." Mr Creighton said Scott Morrison claimed state spending on vocational education fell steadily for the past 10 years. "That is because the federal government has been dragging more and more people into university to do arguably very wasteful degrees," he said. Image: News Corp Australia
