Andrews' deal with China undermines national unity: Dutton
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has accused the Victorian government of undermining national unity over a controversial deal it made with the Chinese government. “It is not in our country’s interest for Victoria to take a different approach to every other state and territory and act against the advice of DFAT, ASIO and other agencies,” Mr Dutton said today. “I think Mr Andrews is digging himself a hole here and he needs to stop it.” The Victorian government has faced criticism for signing off on the $1.5 trillion Belt and Road infrastructure program without consulting the Commonwealth. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has defended the state's relationship with Beijing and his government’s decision to go ahead with the deal.
