Senior Qld shadow minister resigns over coronavirus breach
A senior LNP member has resigned from the Queensland shadow ministry after breaching COVID-19 restrictions. LNP frontbencher Trevor Watts resigned after being fined for drinking with neighbours in his street while social distancing restrictions were in place. Queensland LNP leader Deb Frecklington issued a statement overnight saying “I expect the highest standards from my team, especially my shadow ministers”. Mr Watts will remain as the member for Toowoomba North but has resigned as the Opposition’s spokesperson for police, counter terrorism and corrective services. Queensland is six months out from a state election.
