June economic update the 'primer' for reform
The government will look to ready Australians for reform when it hands down an economic update in June, AFR's Political Editor Philip Coorey says. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will deliver the statement on Australia's economic standing in June ahead of the delayed October budget. Mr Coorey said the government will have to unveil "some things that aren't popular" in order to "get everyone to take notice of how bad the situation is and perhaps be sympathetic to the need for reform". “That will be the real primer ahead of the October budget,” he said.
