Australia set for reduced migration and population growth due to COVID-19
Population Minister Alan Tudge says the federal government is actively considering its options in dealing with the effects of a lower than expected domestic population growth and slowed migration rate due to the COVID-19 crisis. "Australia has been growing pretty quickly over the last decade - two-thirds of that growth has been driven by migration into the country," Mr Tudge said. "We don't know when we'll be able to open up the borders again. "Migration is an important element of our GDP growth. It's supported skills, universities and different sectors when they can't find Australians." Image: News Corp Australia
